Cogmental Intelligence Workshop

Cogmental Intelligence Sessions:

Enhancing Cognition and Building Mental Strength

As we age, cope with stress, and experience various physical and behavioral health challenges, we commonly experience difficulties with cognition, that is attention and memory, which also affect our general health and well-being. Attention and memory expert Jim Karol’s Cogmental Intelligence (CI) program is designed to enhance cognition and related mental abilities, especially attention, concentration, memory, and well-being.

  • Rationale and Overview
  • Attention
  • Memory
  • Applications
  • Well-Being and Summary

Rationale and Overview

The CI program begins with an explanation of the purpose of this program; how it was developed by Jim Karol; and what it entails. Jim describes and demonstrates some of the techniques and games he has created to enhance attention, memory, and well-being to give participants a good idea about the topics and approaches that are presented in the CI program.

Attention

The Attention component of the CI program is designed to help improve selective attention, improve sustained attention, and decrease unwanted distraction. This component includes the use of decks of playing cards and board games that participants will enjoy.

Memory

The Memory component of the CI program is designed to help improve short-term memory, working memory, and long-term memory. This component emphasizes verbal and visual mnemonics and associations that are powerful tools and easy to learn.

Applications

The Applications component of the CI program is designed to improve powers of observation, deception detection, and stress management. This component encourages participants to apply what they are learning to real-life situations and challenges.

Well-being and Summary

The Well-being component of the CI program emphasizes the relevance and importance of exercise, sleep hygiene, positivity, and healthy nutrition to complement and enhance the lessons about attention and memory. The Summary underscores take-home messages.
